Description: Engineering works on WRG Landfill sites within their South East Region over a 3 year period. Initial Works in 2011 consist of 21Nr projects spread over 13 sites within the region.
Works comprise the following:
Formation of new engineered landfill cells
- Bulk earthworks to form required formation levels
- Placement of clay liner
- Installation/welding of HDPE geomembrane liner
- Installation of geomembrane protection material
- Placement of stone leachate layer
- Installation of leachate drainage systems and manholes
Capping existing landfill cells
- Preparation of existing landfilled material to receive capping material
- Excavation of site won material to form permanent capping , or
- Installation/welding of HDPE geomembrane liner
- Installation of geomembrane protection material
- Placement of restoration material (subsoil/topsoil)
Enabling Works
- Stripping topsoil to enable access/haul roads to be constructed.
- Construction of haul roads
- Installation of surface water ditches/lagoons
