The McArdle Group provided earthworks and groundworks services for the Peacehaven Schools PFI (Private Finance Initiative) project. The programme was initiated to address school provision issues at various locations within the area of Peacehaven, a town east of Brighton on the south coast.
The project involved Hoddern Junior School, Meridian Primary School, Peacehaven Infants School, and Telescombe Cliffs County School.
A number of the schools remained open while works were being undertaken. As with any schools project, the aim was to minimise disruption to existing operations and to complete the work in the safest possible environment.
Works undertaken by the McArdle Group for the project included:
- A general reduce level dig to all schools to formation level and groundworks for new classrooms construction
- External works in the form of hard landscaping, including tarmac surfacing to roads and paving works to footpath areas and soft landscaping
