Our efforts to deliver and implement safer systems of working around lorries and heavy construction machinery have been commended by Skanska Balfour Beatty.
Three systems are being developed for implementation. Our wheeled loading shovels have been fitted with VMS reversing radars, which automatically apply the machines brakes if an operative or obstruction is detected. A system of automated tailgates is being fitted to our tipper lorries and we are involved in the evaluation of a proximity detection system called ‘Zonesafe’ which helps produce zones of protection for employees working near heavy machinery.
These recent initiatives confirm out top commitment to improving on performance, and the health, safety and welfare of our people.
