The McArdle Group’s First Geotechnics team were employed by Dallas to install band drains at one-metre triangular spacings to depths of around 13 metres through alluvial clays within an industrial development taking place at Gravesend, Kent.
The approximate surface area which was treated was around 10,000m2 and consisted mainly of external but also some internal areas.
Using band drainage enabled deep ground stabilisation to occur and we achieved rapid settlement of the alluvial material, facilitating the development works.

These systems facilitate the removal of excess water from soils to allow faster consolidation and settlement of soil strata subject to surcharge loading.
