Fulham parkland (phase two)

Client: St George Central London plc
Value of contract: £1.5 million

The McArdle Group completed this hard and soft landscaping project for the Imperial Wharf scheme in Fulham. The extension of Fulham parklands Phase 1, Phase 2 consisted of the construction of a hard and soft 10-acre landscaped garden overlooking the Thames on previously contaminated land.

The works included the removal of sub-soil and placing of top soil to landscaped profiles, with the parkland spilt into an ecology area and an area of landscaped planted and turfed gardens, complete with a 20-metre-diameter “reflection” pond with filtration system.

As with Phase 1, Phase 2 had bonded gravel applied over tarmac paths, land drains, service ducts, tree pits, a children’s playground, seating, and ornamental railings and gates.

Our team also removed coal tar contamination due to the site being constructed over a former contaminated site and construction of a capillary break layer with gas vents.
